**Update: As of 6/19, Barracuda listings decreased from approximately 2000 on 6/18, to approximately 900 today.**
This morning you may have woken up to a larger-than-normal number of 250ok Alerts about the Barracuda RBL monitored by the 250ok platform. We saw several individuals asking about it, wondering if they were the only ones impacted by this large listing issue.
We dove into 250ok Reputation blacklisting data to find the listings have grown exponentially overnight, crescendoing to a peak after gradually increasing over several days.
“Our typical day of monitoring shows only a handful of IP addresses listed on a regular basis,” says Alexander Heinz, 250ok solutions architect. “Over the last week, we saw that list grow from a handful to a couple thousand. In fact, looking at the number of listed IPs from a week ago compared to today shows an 18,000% increase in the daily average of listings.”
When this issue hit Twitter, the Barracuda networks team asked ESPs to email intent_at_barracuda.com with the IPs and their contact info so the investigations team could look into the potential cause of the listings and help with remediation.
If you’re seeing a similar spike in your IPs being listed, you might also be part of today’s listing increase. Reach out to the Barracuda team to help facilitate delistings as soon as possible. Additional details sent to their team might help them understand if there is a larger issue at play within their RBL list.
