Return Path would like to congratulate our CEO Matt Blumberg on his election to Chairman of Board of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) as announced by the DMA at the association’s annual conference in Boston this week.
As a 17-year practitioner and supplier in the direct marketing and email marketing industries, Matt and many others at Return Path have been key supporters and active members of the DMA. Matt has served the DMA in a variety of leadership capacities, from the Board of the Association for Interactive Marketers to the founder of the association’s Interactive Marketing Advisory Board to his current term on the DMA Board of Directors including participation on the Board’s Evolution Task Force, CEO Search Committee and Compensation Committee (writing here about why he chose to serve and what he intended to do in that position). Return Path is also a Founding Partner of the DMA’s new Center for Accountable Marketing in Silicon Valley, a project Matt led as part of his DMA Board service.
Matt is the first “digital native” to be elected to the Board Chairmanship, and we believe his election shows the continued progress the DMA is making to remain relevant to all marketers in an era of increasing focus on integrated, multi-channel, customer-centric marketing. Of course Return Path is focused on the email channel, but we have always seen email as one arrow in the marketing quiver, so being part of the leading global organization that is dedicated to all parts of the “accountable marketing” mix is important to us.
In his new role Matt very much wants to hear from marketers about their experiences of the DMA. Leave a comment below, or reach out on Twitter (@returnpath, @mattblumberg). And look for more posts from Matt directly on this subject soon.
