It’s that time of the year again for the Return Path team to pause and reflect on our anniversary, and how much email has grown and evolved. It’s hard to imagine that Return Path has been around for 14 years, and even harder for me to imagine that nearly 10 years ago, I walked into an amazing company with a small, but mighty team.
14 isn’t a sexy number like 10, but it is fitting that it’s the atomic number of silicon, and Return Path has offices in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley, Silicon Mountain, and Silicon Hills (13 locations in 8 countries, in fact. If you’re reading this, Matt Blumberg, I’ll volunteer for opening the Silicon Beach office). While Return Path has stayed ahead of the innovation curve over the years, one underlying thing has remained constant: we’ve always been a technology and data company, built by remarkable people who live and breath email, that help businesses achieve more value to, and from, email.
Here’s a quick recap of all the amazing things Return Path accomplished in the past year:
Return Path has attracted so many people because of its talent that we’ve grown to nearly 400 employees worldwide in 13 locations and 8 countries representing a collective 1,000+ years of time employed at Return Path, and we have the awards to prove it. Return Path was honored to win three awards in 2013 for being such an amazing place to work, namely Fortune, Crain’s, and ColoradoBIZ.
Return Path cultivates employee development with our quarterly hack-a-thons that produced some amazing microsites and even more amazing videos. Giving back to communities is priority and part of our values. Return Path’s charitable grant, the Return Path Dream Fund, was awarded to Team Flood Cleanup, a group of Return Path employees that helped local residents affected by the devastating Colorado floods in September.
Over the course of the year, we saw approximately 6 billion email delivery attempts per day totaling over 2 trillion messages for the year, where we analyze data points like complaints, spam traps, authentication and more.
Compared to the few hundred after the Return Path Certification program was acquired in 2005, 2013 saw the program swell to nearly 2,000 accredited and certified senders which includes nearly 10,000 certified IP addresses.
Inbox Monitor, the industry’s first deliverability monitoring system, processed almost 5 billion messages, belonging to 3.5 million campaigns, over the past year.
Reputation Monitor, our solution for marketers to monitor their sending reputation, made almost 2 billion checks against 31 blacklists and 63 million IP addresses.
If you don’t look good, we don’t look good. Our comprehensive design and spam testing solution, Inbox Preview, has analyzed over 580,200 email campaigns across 40+ email clients throughout the year showing over 23,208,000 email client rendering views.
In 2013, Sender Score evaluated and scored approximately 29 million IP addresses each month.
In the past 90 days, Return Path’s anti-phishing solutions recorded 125,440,805 messages with a policy action of either reject or quarantine, effectively helping mailbox providers stop the bad guys from impersonating big businesses and financial institutions.
We have the largest mailbox provider partnerships with more than 80 mailbox providers and filtering companies that span every continent (except Antarctica), and have inbox coverage for more than 200 mailbox providers.
Last, but not least, a special thank you to our thousands of customers around the world. You inspire us every single day.
Happy Birthday, Return Path, and many more to come!
