Walk me through your typical day at Return Path.
A typical day at Return Path for me includes many different tasks, all of which correlate to fixing issues with employee computers. New issues constantly come up and I am faced with the challenge of coming up with a solution to these problems. Some examples of these issues include VPN certificates expiring, keyboards/mice not working, computers crashing, hard drives failing, and other malfunctions with the laptops used at Return Path.
One of the main projects I work on daily is building new computers. This process includes many steps to make sure a new hire’s computer is ready to go when they start on their first day. These steps include creating an administrator account, installing software that helps us track and encrypt the computers, and configuring the settings of the new computer.
What is your favorite aspect about being an intern at Return Path?
My favorite aspect about being an intern at Return Path is the way I am treated. Everyone at Return Path is very welcoming and nice. Although I am just an intern, I am not treated like one at all. People treat me as if I was an employee at Return Path and it was very nice to be welcomed in like that.
Another aspect that is amazing about Return Path is the food. I mean catered lunch in the Colorado office on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and access to a fully stocked kitchen!? If that doesn’t motivate you to get your work done, I don’t know what will!
What type of advice would you give to future interns looking to work at Return Path?
I would tell future interns to make sure they are very open about their work here. They shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions and give their opinion on topics that come up. Return Path is a very open and friendly environment and no one will get mad at you for asking questions and trying to understand more about your job.
