4 Fun New Year’s Resolutions for CRM Admins

As 2019 comes to a close, it’s time to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions. Personal resolutions are great, but you may also want to consider taking on professional resolutions to guide the way you do business in the coming year. Luckily, we can help. We’ve come up with a list of 4 great New Year’s resolutions for CRM admins. Each resolution is based on a common personal resolution, but has been tailored specifically for the work of – and benefit of – CRM administrators.

#1: Lose Weight

We all know that losing weight is one of the most popular resolutions this time of year. But as a CRM admin, it’s not bodily weight we want to talk about losing. Instead, we encourage you to consider losing the weight of administrative burdens. Pick the tasks that are causing you the most headaches or stress in the office and find a way to simplify them or delegate them. Here are some easy examples:

Losing a bit of CRM weight doesn’t just remove stress from your life. It also gives you time and energy to learn more about your job and ultimately do more for your company and your professional career.

#2: Exercise More

At the top of many New Year’s resolution lists, right next to losing weight, is the traditional goal of exercising more. As a CRM, you need to exercise more, too – in terms of exercising your brain and your creativity by devising new solutions to everyday challenges.

How do you do that? Think of an aspect of your duties that annoys you. Maybe it’s crafting new on-boarding emails every time you have an event, or maybe it’s the manual process you use to evaluate data sets. You know there has to be an easier way to do these things, but you keep doing them the long, drawn-out way because that’s the way it’s always been done. This year, challenge yourself to exercise your creativity and find an easier way to handle and streamline mundane tasks!

#3: Read More

Intellectual pursuits like reading more rank high on some resolution lists. As a CRM administrator, reading more professional material is an important way to stay ahead of the game. This year, challenge yourself to read more – more data, more technology reviews, more forum responses in your CRM groups, and more blogs that tackle the issues CRM admins face.

One way to make sure that you read more is to schedule time to read once a day or once a week. Rather than waiting for relevant material to come to you, actively seek out the information and resources that will help you do a more successful job.

#4: Spend More Time with Family and Friends

CRM administration is all about relationship management. However, it’s easy to get bogged down with impersonal aspects of the job—with inputting and evaluating data—and forget about the people involved. If you find yourself thinking of the relationships you’re managing in terms of numbers and figures rather than in terms of individuals, it may be a good idea to challenge yourself to spend more time with people this year.

How does that work in your capacity as a CRM administrator? Spend more time with your CRM family by attending conferences and meet-ups. Exchange information with them and trade horror stories. Outside your CRM family, spend time with the friends of your organization by getting out and attending events where you can meet clients face-to-face.

Apply These New Year’s Resolutions for CRM Admins

Creating a good professional resolution requires you to evaluate your performance critically and consider how you can do a better job in the next 12 months. These four great resolutions are based on common goals we hear from CRM administrators as well as the solutions – like Validity for Data Management – they say make a difference on a daily basis. No matter how long you’ve been at your job or how excellent you are at it, there’s always some room to simplify your workload, increase your productivity, and do your job better than before.
